LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A high speed chase through west Louisville ends with a serious accident and two people behind bars.
What are normally calm streets during the day turned into a police chase near 26th and Cedar Street.
Police say officers heard gunshots around 10 p.m. Saturday but neighbors say that’s not unusual.
When police arrived to the area, they saw a blue GMC Envoy speeding westbound on Cedar.
Police turned on their lights and sirens but the SUV didn’t stop.
The chase continued onto the Shawnee Expressway but crashed just off the exit ramp at Ralph Avenue about 4 miles away from where the crash started.
The SUV smashed into a utility pole breaking it in half.
Pieces of the care from inside and out lay scattered at the scene.
Police arrested Aron Terrell, the driver and John Sneed who was a passenger in the vehicle.
Both face charges for trafficking marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
Terrell also faces charges for wanton endangerment and fleeing from police.
Both suspects were taken to University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries after the crash.
They both were released and taken to Metro Corrections.
