LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The trial began Monday morning, Nov. 25 for a gay couple in Louisville who refused to leave a courthouse after being denied a marriage license.

Reverend Bojangles Blanchard and Dominique James were arrested in January after police say they refused to leave the Jefferson County Courthouse after making the request.

The two say they were taking a stand against Kentucky’s law that makes same-sex marriage illegal.
They've been charged with trespassing.
