LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Monday morning the Kennedy Bridge was narrowed to two lanes heading south on Interstate 65 to allow crews to complete a bridge inspection.Bridge inspection work will keep the right lane of I-65 south for one week, but that is not the only project affecting commuters.

The ramp from I-64 east to I-65 south was closed Monday night and will remain so for about three years as the Ohio River Bridges Project gets underway. The closure is expected to help relieve congestion on I-65 south as two lanes near hospital curve will be shut down Tuesday.

I-65 will narrow from three lanes to two lanes from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard. This traffic pattern will be normal until the bridge completions in 2016.

Drivers will be detoured using I-264 West.
