LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – An 18-month-old child was in critical condition at Kosair on Wednesday night after he was left unattended in a bathtub for just a few minutes.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s office is calling the incident an accident.
WHAS11’s Adrianna Hopkins was at Kosair on Wednesday with more on what happened.
The accident happened in Georgetown, Indiana on Wednesday.
According to Jeff Topping with the Floyd County Sheriff's Department, the child's mother was at work and her live-in boyfriend was giving the 18-month-old a bath.
The boyfriend told police he left the child unattended in the bathtub for one minute, not more than two minutes.
When he came back, he told police, the child was unconscious and unresponsive.
The man called police, an officer was there in six minutes, performed CPR, and the child was taken to Floyd Memorial Hospital where he showed vital signs.
The 18-month-old was then transported to Kosair where he’s on life support.
Topping says at this time police are considering this an accident.
