(WHAS11) - Three people were killed in a crash in Orange County, Indiana after a steel coil weighing more than 42,000 pounds fell from a semi truck.

It happened Monday night on Highway 37 just north of Orleans, Indiana.

The highway is one of two ways to travel to Bloomington.

Indiana State Police say a tractor trailer carrying steel coils rounded a curve and one of the coils came loose, crashing into two vehicles heading in the other direction.

22-year-old Zachary Skaggs of Bedford, 41-year-old Michael Daughtery of Mitchell and 21-year-old Shannon Steele of Jasper were all killed in the crash.

An 11-year-old girl was flown to Kosair Children's Hospital with serious injuries.
