LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – In Louisville, the beginning and end of summer is a time to work out.

There was plenty of sunshine the morning of Labor Day for the Mayor’s 18th annual Hike, Bike and Paddle down at Waterfront Park.

The event brought thousands of people downtown to promote a healthy lifestyle.

“Oh I love it. Back when I was a kid, I would ride, ride, ride. I’ve had this bike since ’78,” bicyclist Alfred Mannie said.

Organizers say there were about 10,000 people at today’s event.

The Mayor’s Hike, Bike and Paddle has become a tradition for Labor Day and Memorial Day.
