Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – Hundreds of Thornton’s employees attended a conference here in Louisville but also pitched in to help out the community.

They spent the day in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood cleaning, painting, and building at Catholic Charities of Louisville.

Part of their efforts will also benefit The Sister Vistor Center. The other part will benefit victims of the tragic Henryville Tornado that happened March 2 earlier this year.

“We could have never afforded to do this so this is just beyond words for me,” Michele Intravia, Manager of Sister Visitor Center said.

Volunteers are building frames for 8 homes and 10 sheds that will be shipped to Henryville.

“We want to be an active part of the community, so we want to get out and help those who are our customers and those who are a little less fortunate to better their lives,” Steve Boomershine, Louisville Director of Category Management said.
