Jeffersonville, Ind. (WHAS)--The Internal Revenue Service will hold a public auction Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Clark County Government Building, 501 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville, Ind.  to try and recoup back taxes owed by the Haven House.

The Haven House is a homeless shelter located on Green Street in Jeffersonville.  It is the only homeless shelter in a 14 county radius in southern Indiana.

Residents currently staying at the shelter have until August to find somewhere else to live.

"Our people are broken but they are good people and they deserve a place to lay their head at night," Haven House Director Barb Anderson said.

Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan said he would like to help the shelter but the city is not able to do that.
