LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 19, 2010): Norton Neuroscience Institute, a part of Norton Healthcare, has opened The Headache & Concussion Center, the region's first center dedicated exclusively to the treatment of headache and concussion pain, at Norton Suburban Hospital.
The center is directed by Tad Seifert, M.D., who joined Norton Healthcare in June 2009. Dr. Seifert is the only fellowship-trained headache neurologist currently practicing in Kentucky. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and finished an internal medicine internship at the University of Louisville. Later, he completed a residency in neurology at the University of Texas at Houston, where he trained at the Houston Headache Clinic, one of the country's premier centers for headache treatment. Dr. Seifert previously was in private practice in St. Matthews and also works as a neurology hospitalist at Norton Suburban.
Under Dr. Seifert's guidance, the center offers specialized expertise in treating all types of headache pain and concussions, such as:

• Cervicogenic headaches
• Menstrual-associated headaches
• Tension headaches
• Post-concussive/post-traumatic headaches

The Headache & Concussion Center offers expert treatment of all types of chronic headache and concussion pain, including pharmacological and outpatient infusion treatments; physical, psychological and behavioral therapies; nutritional counseling; Botox and trigger point injections; and occipital nerve blocks.
