LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The summertime box-office hit, “The Butler,” will soon be showing in an Elizabethtown theatre for the first time.
The State Theatre will feature the film on Thanksgiving Day.
Originally, the owner of the theatre, Ike Boutwell, refused to show the film because Jane Fonda was a member of the cast.
Boutwell, who is a veteran of the Korean War and helped train pilots during the Vietnam War, said he viewed Fonda as a traitor for statements the actress made against the Vietnam War.
The State Theatre’s director, Emily West, said she wants to give the people a choice and thinks it will be a great film.
“The Butler,” tells the story of a butler who served eight U.S. Presidents. The film will have five shows between Nov. 28-Nov. 30.
