Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A South Louisville tattoo business is moving after 33 years in its original location.
Tattoo Charlie's on Berry Boulevard will close on Sunday and then move all artists and piercers to its Preston Highway store.
Charlie Wheeler's son, Buddy, took over the business in 2007 after his father died.
Buddy Wheeler says the economy is prompting the move as well as the neighborhood around the Berry Boulevard store.
He says it isn't the hot spot it once was.
“Thirty-five years ago when my dad opened this shop, this was a hopping area. There was a lot of night clubs. There were a lot of other businesses here. Over the last several years, the last 10 or 15 years actually, everything is just starting to dry up over here,” said Buddy.
Wheeler says the Preston Highway store will be open from 10am until midnight to better serve second and third shift workers.
