LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police in St. Matthews blocked streets and evacuated Brown Park Wednesday afternoon when a suspicious package was found.

Police have determined the suspicious package is not explosive and are clearing the scene as of 7:15 p.m.

Police had closed parts of the streets bordering the park, including Browns Lane and Bowling Boulevard, as police investigated the package.

At 4:10 p.m. a citizen was walking near Brown Park and noticed a package that looked suspicious in nature.

The citizen contacted Baptist Hospital Security about this and the hospital security contacted St. Matthews Police.

MORE: SKY11 was over the scene

Officers arrived on the scene a short time after that call. SMPD closed the park and contacted LMPD to request their bomb squad, since they did not know what the package is.

The hospital was not on lockdown at any time and no one was hurt.
