PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) -- Deputies in western Kentucky received an odd surprise while investigating a wreck -- a python slithered from the vehicle.
McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden told The Paducah Sun the 6-foot-long python startled deputies, firefighters and EMS workers early Wednesday morning.
The snake left a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Taylor Griffith of Kevil after it crashed into a mailbox of Ky. 286. The car went into a ditch and flipped over on the roof. That's when the snake made its appearance.
Griffith was cited to court for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to maintain required insurance and third-degree criminal mischief for damage to the mailbox. She was treated and released from Baptist Health Paducah.
There was no word on whether the snake was injured.
