Mayor's SummerWorks Program looks to hire 800 young adults

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11) -- Hundreds of jobs are open for young people looking for summer work.

The Mayor's SummerWorks Program is looking for people between 18 and 21 years of age to fill more than 800 jobs at warehouses this summer. The staff at KentuckianaWorks Youth Career Center will be registering young adults Monday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 until 5 p.m.

There will also be an event May 22 at the Louisville Free Public Library.

Available jobs include pickers and packers, press operators, forklift operators, distribution associates, and loading and unloading trucks. Jobs are with eight employers in Jefferson and Bullitt counties.  You have to be between 18 and 21 to apply. You also need your high school diploma or GED. If you are interested, be sure to bring your social security card along with a picture ID.
