LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The afternoon and evening have brought two episodes of hard rain and now widespread flooding.

The downpours turned streets and low-lying areas into rivers and small lakes.

Drivers have found their paths blocked by high water. And apparently it's best to back up and find another route.

It wasn't long after the first storm started unloading that roadways around Kentuckiana started flooding. Seventh Street was closed down after a car stalled crossing through pooling water.

Joggers, walkers and bikers got a few surprises through Cherokee Park after the storm and a downed tree closed one entrance.

But the worst may have been flooding on the Scenic Loop; worse than some residents in the area had ever seen.

The park was closed down because of the storm water and the downed trees. But, that didn't stop people from wandering through the park.

A second set of storms rolled through Kentuckiana later in the evening and flash flooding seemed to be the biggest threat from both storms.
