(WHAS11) – Strong storms moved through Kentuckiana and brought heavy rain.
Some storms were severe with damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, as well as frequent lightning.
The strongest storms moved through the area from 4 to 8 p.m.
Crews are working to restore power to thousands of customers.
STORM DAMAGE REPORTS:
3 p.m.: Tree on a house in the 3010 block of Treemont Drive, tree on house in the 3530 block of Capri Drive, 2 large trees down blocking roadway on Jennings Lane and roof off of the Bashford Manor Baptist Church on 1960 Bashford Manor Lane.
3:11 p.m. per MetroSafe:
Four structure fires, several trees down(about 32), 35 reports of wires down, some motor vehicle accidents also(one with report of a rescue)
3:18 p.m.: The Max 102.3 has been knocked off the air due to the storm and there's a building collapse at Gilmore Industrial Blvd. at Rural Metro Ambulance company
3:21 p.m.: LG&E is reporting there is 37,520 customers without power in Jefferson Co.
3:22 p.m.: Power outages by zip code: 40216-5,259; 40215-4,259; 40211-2,018; 40219-2,696
3:23 p.m.: Left two lanes of I-65 south near St. Catherine covered in water. Traffic crawling in the area.
3:37 p.m.: LG&E reporting 39,000 customers without power across Metro Louisville
3:40 p.m. per MetroSafe: There is a child being transported to the hospital from Deerfield Lane after a report came in that a tree had fallen on a child.
3:58 p.m.: Some streets have been blocked to get 10-year-old to Kosair. Child was riding a scooter down the street, was hit with big branch that had fallen from the top of a tree and landed on him. The child was severely injured.
