(WHAS11) -- Former state lawmaker Steve Nunn has apologized to the family of the woman he shot and killed four years ago.
Nunn is serving a life sentence in prison for the 2009 death of his former fiancée, Amanda Ross.
Nunn made the apology during a court hearing on Friday, May 31, in Lexington over how much access he should have to his former lawyer's file in the criminal case.
Nunn addressed his comments to Ross' mother.
He said quote, "My heart is broken for her."
