FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – On Tuesday, July 23, the Frankfort Convention Center hosted a day at the beach for the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign kickoff-- benefitting the WHAS crusade for children.
State employees enjoyed a festive lunch with a serious purpose: to raise money for the seven charities that state workers can choose to support through payroll deductions.
"When our employees give to the seven primary charities in the Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign they're able to know that their money goes directly to those charities and can serve those directly in need," Timothy Longmeyer, KECC chairperson, said.
Last year state employees gave over $1.2 million dollars to charity-- including the crusade. This year's goal is set at $1.3 million dollars.
