LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- If you made a trip near the KFC Yum! Center on Thursday, you witnessed a social experiment without even knowing it.

It's called the National Honesty Index.

A company called Honest Tea set up a kiosk at the corner of 2nd and Main where they were selling cold bottles of tea for $1, but there was no cashier to take your money. Instead, the kiosk went by an honor system.

Representatives from Honest Tea hid nearby to see if people paid or not.

The same experiment occurred in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

The final results will be released in August and you can see how Kentucky compares to the rest of the nation.
