LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Have you noticed something really stinks in your neighborhood? If you have you are not alone. Many residents in the West End have been complaining of a strange odor.
"I really can't describe the odor. It's like sewer, rotten eggs and bathroom or some combination," said resident Nancy Bolton.
Nancy Bolton lives off Longfield and noticed an odor right outside her door. She say in recent days it has gotten worse.
"Even when I have company, it's embarrassing," said Bolton.
Metropolitan Sewer District says there is a reason behind the smell and it has to do with the recent weather.
"On dry spells, the water evaporates out of the catch basins and it will drop below the trap and it allows vapors to come out of the catch basin," said Tony Morrison with MSD.
MSD has received a number of calls recently mainly in the areas of town with the combined sewer system within 264.

On Thursday crews pumped out water and debris and replaced it with clean water to flush it out and even add a little bit of scented deodorant.

At Nancy Bolton's house,  she will take any smell other than one she's had to endure all week.
