WHAS11 News is learning about the identity of a shooting victim clinging to life at a Louisville hospital and his connection to a popular song by a Louisville rapper.

The hospital has not released the shooting victim's name, but we have learned that he is a well-known dancer in the community who invented a dance that inspired a popular rap song that has achieved worldwide attention.

The song's called "The Shizz" and it was written by Louisville rapper Kenzo after he noticed a young man who goes by the name "Sugar Shizz" doing the dance in nightclubs all over Louisville.

And it's turned into a worldwide phenomenon.

But as the dance crazy continues, the man who is credited with inventing it, who goes by the name "Sugar Shizz", is in critical condition at University Hospital.

He was shot in a South Louisville neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Someone drove Shizz to university hospital, where the vehicle was later seized by police.

Shizz was shot in the head.

So far, police have not made an arrest and have not released any possible motives.

His fans say it's a tragedy that he was hurt just as his dance was growing in worldwide attention.

While his dancing will live on in dozens of videos on the internet, his fans pray that Shizz will survive his serious injuries too.

Shizz has one very well known fan who has helped his dance gain international attention-Kentucky basketball great John Wall.
