(WHAS11) -- Authorities say a soldier with Fort Knox's 3rd Brigade Combat Team is being questioned in connection with the shooting death of a civilian employee. The soldier, identified as Marquinta Jacobs by The Portland Leader newspaper in Portland, Tennessee, was found and arrested by special agents.  The newspaper says his mother lives in that city.

Security at Fort Knox is extremely tight after the shooting. A civilian worker was shot to death in a parking lot around 5:40 Wednesday night. The victim was part of the U.S. Army Human Resources Command.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command says there have been no arrests. Until an official arrest is made, people living near Fort Knox say they feel uneasy.

"It's really just a lot of police going around. There's more than usual," Robert Yates, a concerned neighbor, said.

Yates also said he is going to be a little more cautious now. He lives on Independence Avenue located roughly seven miles from Fort Knox. Radcliff detectives say they are assisting the FBI and military investigators as they search for a person of interest who may live on the street.

"We have cooperated with them and assisted them in whatever they need in our support from the police department," Bryce Shumate with Radcliff Police said.

Antonella Smith's husband is stationed at Fort Knox. The mother says her family recently saw something suspicious.

"It was definitely a motorcycle. It was a crotch rocket. He was just shooting around the neighborhood," Smith said.

Fort Knox police believe the shooting was a "personal incident and not a random act of violence."

But Yates says he will still be looking over his shoulder.

"Just to know it's so close by. I have little siblings and she has friends that come over," said Yates.

If you have any vital information call Fort Knox Police at (502) 624-2111. Authorities say the victim's identity will most likely be released on Friday.
