LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The pain drags on for Jericka Snead's biological father and for the first time Tuesday Arthur Davis spoke publicly about his daughter's death.
Jericka Snead was shot and killed by her half-brother, Jules Snead, last year.
“I’m her father,” Davis said. “It’s just real painful for me.”
Davis was n a Jefferson County Circuit courtroom as Jules Snead’s attorney asked for a continuance on the date of his sentencing, which the judge granted. The frustration could be heard in Davis' voice, as he asked the assistant commonwealth attorney for a reason.
“It’s been a rocky road since the incident,” said Davis. “It’s caused a lot of separation with grand kids. With family members it’s caused a lot of division.”
Family and friends who came to support Jules Snead filled the hallway at the courthouse, but none of them wanted to speak publicly.
The past year has been difficult for Davis and his side of the family.
He said he remembers the last thing Jericka said to him the day before she was killed: "Daddy, I love you."
“She was a big part of me,” Davis said. “That sums it up. She was a big part of me.”
Jules Snead’s attorney would not comment about the continuance, even though his client has already pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Manslaughter.
