(WHAS11) -- A second person died on Monday after a moped crash in Louisville over the weekend. Police said a car crashed into a moped at the intersection of Cane Run Road and Terry on Saturday night.

The male driver of the moped was pronounced deceased here at the scene,” said Police Spokesperson Alicia Smiley.

The driver was 34-year-old Edward Fey Jr. His passenger was Kristy Flinn. The two had just met.

“He was taking her out on a first date. They were going to Mike Linnig’s,” said Sharon Hanks, Fey’s mother.

Police said a Ford Focus was trying to make a left turn. The driver and the passenger reached out to Hanks. They told her they didn’t see her son and his date.

“They were all broken up about it, and I told him it was an accident,” Hanks said.

Flinn was the mother of four; Fey was the father of three.
