LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An investigation is underway after a semi caught fire after an accident early Monday morning.

It is not clear at this time what caused a tractor trailer to crash into the guard rail and then burst in to flames on I-264 west near the Newburg Road exit, but police said the driver escaped uninjured.

The incident caused three lanes of I264 west to be shut down for several hours while crews work to contain the fire and clean up the wreckage.

All lanes have since reopened and traffic is moving in the area.
