Runners take part in first leg of Triple Crown of racing

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The first leg of the Triple Crown of running was held Saturday morning as thousands of runners made their way through downtown Louisville.

The Anthem 5K Fitness Classic benefits the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Nearly 8,000 runners participated this morning running from Preston Street, River Road, down Main Street to Slugger Field.

“Well I’m a first time runner. I’ve been running for the last couple of months to get ready for this race,” runner Dana Brown said. “I was really happy with my time.”

Rob Mullett won the men’s division with a time of 14 minutes and 23 seconds.

Alli Morgan won the women’s division with a time of 16 minutes and 33 seconds.

The Rodes City Run 10K will take place on March 23 followed by the Papa John’s 10 miler on April 6.
