LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Jeff Ruby's restaurant was closed a couple of weeks after a leak was discovered. The owner, Jeff Ruby, not only started repairs, but said he decided it was time for a little renovation.

Ruby said the shark tank at the Louisville eatery started leaking and caused quite a bit of damage, forcing him to close the doors while repairs were made. However, Ruby said he thought he might as well do a little renovation along with the repairs.

"I always keep adding new things to my restaurants. I want to give them something new so they see something different each time they are in my restaurants," Ruby said in a phone interview Thursday.

The tank didn't burst open, Ruby said it was a slow leaked that caused the floor to buckle.

Not clear on the length of time it had been leaking, Ruby said his focus is now on replacing the floor and adding more of an art deco theme with the shark tank being replaced with something bigger and better.

"I brought in the guy that does all the Oscars. He does the lighting there and a lot of lighting in Las Vegas, plus my interior designer from Las Vegas. And we are gonna replace the shark tank, totally, and do a whole new thing that hasn't been done in the country," Ruby said.

While he would not reveal exactly what will replace the shark tank, but he said he's looking to make it an even better experience for diners.

Ruby said he hopes to reopen the restaurant in a minimum of two weeks, but it could be longer.
