LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Root Cellar owner Ron Smith opened his first store in Old Louisville in 2011. Last October he opened another location in Germantown, but now he wants to take his market mobile.

“I thought there was a way to bring more people more access to this food. You know, farmer's work very hard to raise it,” Smith said.

Smith raised the funds on Kickstarter to buy and renovate an old Valley Medical transport bus. His mission is to try to raise awareness about food access issues. He’ll be taking the bus filled with farm fresh produce to sell in so called “food deserts.”

“We'll be taking that over into predominately West End neighborhoods for now,” Smith said.

The bus will debut at the Louisville Independent Business Association’s Buy Local Fair on May 11th.
