(WHAS11) -- The family of a murdered Bardstown police officer will receive a copy of a congressional record detailing his heroism.
Ofc. Jason Ellis was ambushed and killed Memorial Day weekend when he stopped on Western Kentucky Parkway to pick up debris lying in the roadway on his way home from work.
Shortly after his death U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie honored his wife on the house floor saying Ellis “paid the ultimate sacrifice,” and his shoes will be hard to fill.
Guthrie is expected to meet with Ellis’ family and Bardstown officials to present official copies of Ellis record.
