LOUIS VILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Since Kelly Bagshaw was murdered in 2011 and her husband Dale sentenced to more than 60 years in prison, her children have been caught in the middle of a custody war.

“We are hoping they can return to their bedrooms, their schools, their friends,” family member April Watson said. “Ever since Kelly was murdered, they have been in limbo bounce around to all these homes.”

Kelly’s adopted mother, Shelly, has launched a major legal effort to get custody of 8-year-old Kaylee and 4-year-old Bryce. The family held a fundraiser at Wick’s Pizza off Hurstbourne Lane. The location donated a portion of the proceeds directly to the family. The money will help pay for what could be an expensive fight.

Currently, the children are with Kelly’s half-sister and they only get to see Kelly’s adopted mother once a month.

“She is missing them as much. She’s missing her daughter Kelly but she is also missing her grandkids as well,” Watson said.

The family reached out to Wick’s Pizza. The marketing director said she was so personally touched by this tragic story she knew this was a way the location could help.

“It brought tears to my eyes. It hit home with how tragic the story is,” Ashley Isaacs, Wick’s Pizza employee, said.

The family said they can’t wait for the day they can finally say welcome home to Kelly’s kids.
