LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The holidays are about giving and many people are giving back through random acts of kindness. Whether it’s paying it forward in the drive-thru or matching all donations that come in to charities, Kentuckiana is in a very giving mood.

Any time of year is a good time to give, but it seems the holidays are really bringing out that spirit. One man shared a story of a near car accident he had and the kind attitude of the other driver.

"I feel like having that attitude really changes a lot of things and, you know, it made our day a lot better," he said.

Another shared a story of giving his spare change to a man in need, "I don't carry cash, so I got out my little change thing and we gave him something and we were like Happy Holidays!"

Some people have the ability to go big around the holidays. Executive Vice President of Metro United Way Jennifer Adrieo told us, "We just learned about a month ago that one of our wonderful friends and donors was going to give us $100,000 anonymously to match any new gifts from November to the end of the year to match the Metro United Way's campaign effort."

People are giving what they have to make sure everyone has a Happy Holiday and hoping it will carry on long after the holidays.
