LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two days after catching heat for lecturing about black history to students who already knew it at Washington D.C.'s Howard University, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul spoke at another historically black school, Simmons College, in Louisville on Friday, April 12.

And he was direct in his appeal, "I’m trying to figure out how to get more votes," Paul told the group. He added he is their senator too, despite overwhelming support for Democrats by African-Americans.

WHAS11 Political Editor Joe Arnold has more on Paul's appeal for African-American votes
