LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The man police said was found in a pond Monday has been identified.

Officials said 59-year-old Dell Liford was fishing with another man around 2:45 p.m. when he suddenly jumped into the the pond in the 7300 block of South Watterson Trail. Emergency crews were called to the scene and it took them about three hours to locate Liford's body.

Police said Liford and the other man regularly fished at the pond. Friends and family said he was involved in the Victory Baptist Church, which is near the pond.

The pond is privately owned and is 7 feet deep. The pond is located behind a Speedway station.
