LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police officers from all local and state agencies will be out in full force during the Memorial Day weekend ensuring drivers obey the rules of the road.
Officers are going to be on the lookout for aggressive drivers, drunk drivers and anyone who isn’t wearing their seatbelt.
“The number one goal is not to take people to jail for DUI; it’s not to issue citations. Our number one goal is to reduce the number of traffic fatalities and injuries this Memorial Day weekend,” Officer Norman Chaffins of the Kentucky State Police said.
During the Memorial Day weekend last year, there were 17 deaths related to car accidents.
Kentucky State Police want that number to be zero.
