(WHAS11) Police are searching for the person responsible for a hit-and-run, near the intersection of Broadway and Baxter Avenue that happened about 7:00 p.m. Friday night.
The victim, a woman believed to be in her 30’s, is still in serious condition at University Hospital.
Police, firefighters and EMS crews all rushed to the scene just before 7:00 p.m. When they arrived, they found a woman, in her early 30’s laying in the middle of the street.
Witnesses said she was a victim of a hit and run.
Kyle Riggs, a witness said, “We were driving down Baxter Avenue and we were behind a white van, and they swerved; it looked like they hit something and as soon as they sped off, I realized that it was a woman and she was in the middle of the road.”
But Riggs told WHAS11 that the van didn’t just the woman, “They swerved just to the left a bit and went right over her with both wheels; went right over her. They didn’t just hit her, they went right over her and sped off immediately.”
Police said they are now looking for those people, believed to be driving a white Pontiac van with front-end damage.
The victim was taken to University Hospital.
Riggs said, “I’m pretty horrified. I can’t believe anybody would do that. I guess they panicked, but I can’t believe anybody would drive away from that. They went over her and they knew it. I’m shaking and just wishing I could have seen the license plate, because it’s a horrible thing.”
