LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to investigate a fatal shooting in the 3100 block of Vermont Avenue, near I-264, in West Louisville.
Metro Police were called to the area at 11:36 a.m. on Friday after neighbors heard shots fired.
The victim, 21-year-old Ivan J. Bailey, died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds.
Police closed off two blocks of Vermont Street, as forensic teams combed the area looking for evidence.
Saturday, a small memorial lay just feet from the scene.
Bailey's mother and grandmother spoke off camera. They remembered him as a loving, caring son, who tried to distance himself from the wrong crowds. Bailey's grandmother believes someone lured him to the scene, where he was shot and robbed.
Bailey’s record with LMPD dates back to 2010, including traffic violations, drug trafficking (cocaine) and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Police remained quiet Saturday regarding the case. They would not confirm if they'd made any arrests.
Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD.
