SHELBY CO., Ky. (WHAS11) – An accident that happened late Wednesday night in Shelby County, Ky. has left one person dead.

The coroner said one person, Steven A. Ball, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Aiken Road and Highway 362 in Simpsonville. The coroner said Ball is a 40-year-old man from Crestwood.

The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.  Excessive speed is a contributing factor to the collision.

No other vehicles were involved.

Ball is survived by a 16-year-old daughter. Friends and family have started a fund at PNC Bank where you can donate to her college fund. Donations can be made at any branch in the name of "Lillian Ball Educational Fund."
