LOUISVILLE, Ky -- Louisville Metro Police are trying to track down the suspect in the city’s latest murder.  It happened in Old Louisville, a few blocks away from Central Park in an area that is trying to get rid of their high crime image.

26-year-old Jarvis Carson was killed in the shooting and no suspects and no reason for the killing at this time.

As police search for a shooter, the community is turning to something else to curb violence and crime.

“They have this stereotypical, nobody wants to come down here. It’s a lot of bad things that go on here. It’s good that they are trying to do positive things in the community,”  Shanae Bowles, supporter of Old Louisville.

This strip of businesses near 4th and Oak is hoping a facelift and new business will make all the difference.

“The neighborhood is in the process of change right now. The city is revitalizing the neighborhood. We have a lot of senior citizen high rises, we have transit housing and then a lot of the Old Louisville homes are being renovated which is bringing back character in the neighborhood,” said Scylar Ladeq, Southern Express Soul Food.

Ladeq recently opened Southern Express Soul Food. A sports bar is moving in right next door.

“We did 4th street live and we did the Nulu area and I do believe that the Old Louisville area is right there where it is going to be next,” said Ladeq.

“Maybe if we continue to have things to do and people can focus on that then crime,” Tamara Gillion, supporter of Old Louisville.
