Man killed on Aiken Road Friday worked at Kentucky Truck Plant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A pedestrian killed Friday night after being struck by a van in the 16000 block of Aiken Road has been identified as 47-year-old James Darren Holt.

Witnesses said a woman, identified as 38-yea-old Jennifer R. Pierce, driving a Kia minivan was heading eastbound on Aiken Road was swerving back and forth in the roadway.

Police said Holt was driving a red Ford pickup and pulled in front of the Pierce's vehicle. Holt stopped, got out of his truck and that's when Pierce struck him with her car as he was approaching her vehicle.

Holt was pinned underneath and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Holt was an employee at the Kentucky Truck Plant. Ford released the follwing statement:
 
“Ford Motor Company is saddened to confirm that Kentucky Truck employee, Darren Holt, an automation engineer in the Body Shop, was killed by a drunk driver on early Saturday morning. Darren was with Ford for 19 years and was one of our absolute best. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Holt family at this difficult time. We will provide an update on the funeral arrangements once the information is available.”

Pierce is charged with DUI and murder.
