LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A man is facing several charges after he was reported to police for allegedly huffing several cans of Reddi-wip inside a store on Bardstown Road.
According to the police report, police arrived at the Value Market in the 1200 block of Bardstown Road Wednesday after receiving reports that a man was huffing cans of Reddi-wip inside the store. James Crittenden, 36, was found intoxicated on nitrous oxide and police say he was unsteady on his feet and his speech was extremely slurred.
According to the police report, the Crittenden stated that he would pay for the 10 cans of Reddi-wip that he opened, which amounted to more than $26, but he only had $7 in his pocket at the time. Crittenden also said he was huffing the cans in an attempt to stay awake and stated that he was allowed to huff Reddi-wip as part of his constitutional rights.
According to the police report, Crittenden had been previously banned from the same store for prior acts of disorderly conduct and theft.
James Crittenden was arrested and charged with shoplifting, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
