CROTHERSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A Crothersville, Ind. man drowned after police say he jumped into a pond after a chase.

It started around 8:30 Sunday night, when a Seymour police officer noticed 25-year-old Nathaniel Phillips acting suspicious.

Police say four warrants had been issued for his arrest.

An officer chased him, and Phillips fled to Jennings County-- where he got out of the car and jumped into a pond in an attempt to get away.

Phillips was in the pond about 20 minutes before a dive team could get him out.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Louisville.
