Police: Group targets elderly with driveway sealing scheme

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- One man is in jail, two other suspects are on the loose are suspected of scamming elderly during jobs.

Police say the trio were targeting elderly homeowners, offering to do work, then demanding high payments for their work.

Police say William Caulk, 32, was one of three who approached an 82-year-old, Joe Linton, from St. Matthews, offering to seal his driveway. The man turned them down.

Once the homeowner refused, the trio forced their way into the man’s home, assaulting him and stole his wallet.

“They give me a big hard shove, I’m in here wrestling because they’ve tried to get my wallet and that’s when they really took off,” Linton said.

According to police, Linton was able to get the license plate of the vehicle the trio fled in. Police stopped the vehicle less than a mile away and Caulk as the only suspect left in the vehicle.
