LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police say the infant found in a trash can inside a Louisville Kohl's store appeared to be full-term prior to her death.

In a news release Friday, the Louisville Metro Police Department said the mother of the baby gave birth to that infant while inside the women's bathroom at Kohl's.  Police said the mother is cooperating with police and have not released further details surrounding the death.

The coroner tells WHAS11 News the death is still under investigation and the baby may have been stillborn, despite police saying the baby appeared to be healthy prior to her death.

Police said they are awaiting the opinions of the Medical Examiner's Office and the Commonwealth Attorney's Office before proceeding.

The investigation began Thursday evening at the Kohl's in the 11000 block of Standiford Plaza Drive in southern Jefferson County.

At the time, police said there were no obvious signs of trauma.
