LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's an honor normally given to the likes of Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, but this year you could be the one flipping the switch to start Thunder Over Louisville.

The Kentucky Derby Festival is teaming up with the Kentucky Lottery Corporation to choose this year's Thundernator for the 2013 Derby Festival.  To enter, you have to sign up for a Fun Club Rewards account at www.kylottery.com. Once logged in, you can submit a non-winning $2 Scratch-off ticket for your chance to win. Your entry must be in by 11:59pm on April 1st.

"For years, we've partnered with the KDF to offer winners of a second-chance promotion front-row seats to Thunder from a special vantage point. Now, we're definitely kicking it up a notch by allowing one lucky winner to start the night's fireworks.” Said Chip Poltson, Vice President of Communications, Government and Public Relations Kentucky Lottery Corporation. “By entering $2 non-winning tickets via our new Fun Club Rewards program, players will be eligible for what will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

The drawing for Thundernator will be April 3rd. The winner will receive an invitation to the Festival’s annual They’re Off! Luncheon on Friday, April 19, a Second Street Bridge and Command Center tour also on Friday, April 19, overnight accommodations for a family of four at the Galt House Thunder weekend, and a front row seat in the Command Center on Saturday, April 20, to flip the switch.

“The Kentucky Lottery is a longtime partner of the Festival and we’re excited to get their help in choosing this year’s Thundernator.,” said Mike Berry, Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO.”  “Being the Thundernator is an important role to fill and now more people than ever will have a chance to be the one who flips the switch.  We know somebody’s gotta win!”
