LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Fed up and frustrated, one Beecher Terrace mother (who wanted to remain unidentified) found her neighborhood blocked off by police tape after a shooting in broad daylight near her apartment.
“I actually heard kids screaming – that’s what really got me. I could’ve been out there – my kids,” she said.
It began as a lovely evening, the kind where neighbors look on from their porches as kids play outside.
By 7 p.m., they were watching a murder investigation underway as officers tried to preserve a crime scene occupied by dozens of people.
It’s unclear if the victims, two black males who are presumed to be in their 20’s, lived at Beecher Terrace.
One was found inside a courtyard off 12th and Cedar Streets.
The other, a block down 12th Street and Fisk Court was almost the exact location of another fatal shooting three weeks ago.
LMPD Homicide detectives believe that the double homicide occurred as a result of the two men shooting one another.
They say there are no outstanding suspects at this time, according to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley.
The two men's identities have yet to be released.
