LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Emergency crews were called out early Monday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Dixie Highway near Nobel Place.
The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. Police said a pick up truck hit the victim, who is described as a black male in his 60's.
Residents that live nearby said this area on Dixie Highway is dangerous for pedestrians.
"I don't even go across the street. I have people drive me to the store. I don't walk across," Stella Levels, who lives off Dixie Highway, said. "Somethings always going on. Someone's always getting hit on Dixie die way. That's why it's called Dixie die way instead of Dixie Highway."
Police said the driver did stop and tried to help the victim, and they said they do not expect to file charges.
The roadway was shut down in both directions but has since reopened.
