(WHAS11) As a taxi driver Floyd Kidd is always one call away, but if you’re calling for a ride to and from the KFC Yum Center, you might have to wait. “They’re calling for you and you can’t get to them. You tell them you’re stuck; there’s no way I can get in,” said Floyd.
It’s a problem Floyd said he’s used to seeing during Derby and Thunder Over Louisville, but with people flocking to the new downtown arena Floyd said cabs are the one’s dealing with the traffic headaches. “You see… I’m blocking; I can’t sit here. You’ve got people coming from the bridge. I can’t sit here. I’m blocking traffic,” added Floyd.
And when your money is made by the volume of people you transport: “It’s definitely cost us some fares, because we can’t get up there to them,” said Floyd.
Floyd thinks the biggest traffic problems have yet to be seen. “The real test will come when U of L plays UK,” he said.
In a frustrating situation, Floyd is understanding. “They’re still working out the flaws in this and I understand that,” said Floyd.
