LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Jeffersontown day care worker is facing a charge of child abuse after police said she was caught on video grabbing a 5-year-old and dragging her across the floor.

Shacobi Kirby was charged with abuse after the mother of the child alerted police to the alleged abuse of her children. Police said the alleged victim’s 8-year-old sister told her mom what happened to her and the 5-year-old.

Surveillance video shows three different incidents where a child was pushed into a teacher's lounge and a child was grabbed off a cot and dragged across the floor, according to police documents.

The alleged abuse happened at the Watch Me Grow in Excellence Day Care on Galene Drive.

Taeja Rodriguez has been sending her daughter to the facility for more than two years and says her experience hasn’t been perfect.

“If she's wet or anything when I come in you know. I don’t know how long she's been wet or if she was sleeping like that. Just those issues I did voice and from what I know they were taken care of,” Rodriguez said.

Jerry King said he is happy with the facility.

“They take great care of my grandkids. They’re sweet people,” King said.

Kirby was expected to bond out of jail on Monday night. She is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 18. No one from the facility would comment on the allegations.
