LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- No arrests have been made in the theft of $26,000 of rare Bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery. The theft of 65 cases of twenty-year Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon and nine cases of Van Winkle Rye Whisky was reported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office Tuesday.

Since then, news of the heist has spread beyond the Bluegrass with the Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton fielding media inquiries from across the Bluegrass.

The 195 bottles went missing from a secured warehouse at Buffalo Trace. The Sheriff believes the thief was stealing small quantities of Bourbon at a time over the last two months. He says investigators are looking at all leads but the evidence suggests the culprit works at the distillery. Fifty employees had access to the stolen Bourbon, they are all still on the job but they are being investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's office.
