LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Because of all the nasty weather on Thursday, many people headed indoors to celebrate Halloween.

On Friday afternoon Oxmoor Center issued an apology. Trick or treating has been a tradition there for more than 15 years.

Yes, they expected big crowds, but didn't plan on the thousands who showed up, and many stores offering candy ran out.

Many who showed up left unhappy, and without any treats.

Oxmoor issued this statement: “We are saddened that trick or treaters left Oxmoor Center last night dissatisfied. We planned for this year's event as we have in years past; but due to the unexpected inclement weather, thousands more trick-or-treaters came than in years past. We and our stores made all efforts to increase the amount of candy and giveaways, but unfortunately and regrettably we could not have predicted the unexpected turn-out.”
